Overview: I’ve had a V3 for about a year now and love it. I first jumped on one when Sasha from Mayhem sent down a demo in a 5’9 for staff and loved how quick and responsive it is. My first session was at treachery with 2-3ft hollow left and right peaks. The board handled a punchy wall, was super quick through fast sections and could whip a nice turn when you needed it to. I was hooked on it from the start.

Features: The short, wide template enables you to ride the V3 a lot shorter than your regular board. This will allow you to snap it in the pocket and wrap those turns whilst the width under your chest will help you to catch anything. The five fin option adds versatility to the type of waves it will perform in – use a thruster for beach break conditions and try a quad setup when surfing reefs or point breaks. This board is part of the rocket series which means that it’s concaves are designed for speed; a big single concave from under the chest area running down to a slight double in the tail.

Recommended Conditions: Any wave conditions under 5ft; from beachies to reefs to point breaks. Change fin setups and fin size depending on the wave conditions.

Pros:

  • Super fast due to its flatter rocker and single concave
  • Can handle any conditions around Newcastle and Central Coast
  • Very Responsive
  • Great versatility due to the five fin option and short/wide template

Cons:

  • If it’s bigger the 6ft grab a bigger board, it’s not meant for those conditions
